Austin Richard Post, better known by many as Post Malone, recently dropped his latest single, “Chemical,” from his upcoming fifth album, Austin. The single demonstrated Post’s pop-rock side with some hints of country influences. It demonstrated how the rapper and singer-songwriter could transcend across several genres. In fact, his debut album, Stoney, has been described by some critics as containing some rock and country elements. Ultimately, Post’s main foundation is hip-hop, and having a diverse sound has resonated well with fans. Upon its release in 2016, Stoney peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Thanks to incredible singles, such as “White Iverson,” “Too Young,” “Go Flex,” “Congratulations,” “I Fall Apart,” and “Deja Vu,” the album later sold over five million copies in the U.S., earning five-time platinum status. “White Iverson” and “ I Fall Apart” notably earned diamond certifications in the U.S., becoming two of Post’s most successful hits.
Post’s other diamond certifications were given to his 2017 and 2018 singles, “Rockstar,” “Psycho,” and “Better Now.” The songs were spawned from his sophomore album, Beerbongs & Bentley, and they dominated the charts in five U.S. Billboard categories and 17 other countries. In 2019, Post earned another diamond for his single, “Circles.” The song is featured in his third effort, Hollywood’s Bleeding. Released in 2019, the third album featured guest performances from a wide range of artists, including Ozzy Osbourne, Halsey, DaBaby, Future, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, and SZA. Apart from “Circles,” the record spawned several more hit singles, “Wow,” “Goodbyes,” “Enemies,” “Allergic,” and “Take What You Want.”
Last year, Post embarked on a massive outing for his 2022 studio effort, Twelve Carat Toothache. The U.S. leg covered over 30 cities, including a Newark stop. This 2023, Post makes his way to Camden for the once-in-a-lifetime show to support his new album, Austin. Set for release on July 28, The album has already been preceded by hits “Chemical” and “Mourning.” In a statement, Post described the effort as one of his most personal projects to date. “This has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records he worked on. “I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment. Thank y’all so much for your patience, and thank you for being there with me in my hardest times. I love y’all so much and am ready to f—ing party with y’all.”
