After a four-year hiatus from touring, Hootie and The Blowfish are set to reunite at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Friday, August 16th, featuring special guests Edwin McCain and Collective Soul. Beginning on May 30th in Dallas, the extensive 43-date tour will run until September 28th in West Palm Beach, stopping by major stadiums, including the iconic Fenway Park in Boston.
Hootie and The Blowfish changed the conventional idea of college rock when they joined forces during the early 80s. Influenced by sounds like R.E.M. and jangle-pop, these men adapted and streamlined the style, creating straightforward music perfect for house parties, tailgates, and sports bars.
The core quartet, comprising Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim Sonefeld, will reunite for the summer tour. Across their Grammy award-winning career, they have achieved remarkable success, with over 25 million albums sold and their debut record, "Cracked Rear View," attaining Diamond certification.
“Basically overnight, our lives changed when Cracked Rear View did what it did – and yet as we quickly moved from vans and college bars to tour busses and arenas, not much else changed with how we approached making music and sharing it with our fans,” lead singer Mark Bryan shares about their debut full-length album which celebrated its 25th anniversary four years ago.
Joining them on tour is the multi-talented Edwin McCain, an American singer-songwriter, actor, and guitarist best known for composing the love ballads “I’ll Be” and "I Could Not Ask for More." Both songs were top-40 hits on the U.S. radio, with the former reaching the fifth spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
On the other hand, Collective Soul is a rock band originally from Georgia consisting of brothers Ed and Dean Roland, Johnny Rabb, Will Turpin, and Jesse Triplett. Back in 1995, the group won the Billboard Music Award for Top Rock Song for "December,” and in 2009, they were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
Located in the Camden Waterfront entertainment district, the beautiful Freedom Mortgage Pavilion boasts a 25,000 seating capacity, perfect for large events such as this! With sound systems that can be heard throughout the city, this invitation is definitely difficult to decline. Watch Hootie and The Blowfish live on Friday, August 16th! Secure your passes today!
